I've decided to make an effort to blog everyday this week while you're gone Buffy. And this week's quotes will have 80's musical references -- not my decision.  I need to credit Google for that as I started to type in my search for another song and this one popped up!  So....let's begin!!

Introducing a new segment to the Diaries...
IRL 
(you have no idea how long it took for me to figure out what this meant...or ...since you know me, maybe  you do! :p)

1. At a practice for the kid, standing beside this woman I swear up and down MUST be related to someone I used to know.  So as we're listening to some dad blather on about this amazingly artistically gifted kids he mentions a school and I get to chatting and then me and this mom get to talking about how we both went there and then we realize -- We do know each other!  I went to elementary school with this girl from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and then we all went our separate ways and I haven't seen or heard from her since then.  Even on Facebook we couldn't connect!!!!  It's been 23 years since I've seen her and we have daughters on the same team now!!!  Small freaking world!  I'm still freaking out about the coincidence.!!

2.  I was standing in line behind a woman who's tights were so tight you could see the cellulite.  And not because the tights were stretched so thin they became translucent... these tights were vacuum sealed to this woman!

Moving on to my personal favorite...

Someone killed that word at People.com -- notice how they never use it anymore? Gone are the days when every damn post was liberally sprinkled with the word.  I blame Wills and Kate. But now that Royal Wedding Fever has died down...so has the British language invasion.

Okay...I wouldn't go that far but ... I certainly have become more popular of late.  Which in my case, isn't really a good thing.
In my new role I'll be working closer with another subset of people here at the organization.  The plus is its certainly interesting.
The minus -- this guy's office is really close by and he wanders more than I do and is constantly stopping by at the open door to make comments.
Very distracting and very time consuming!  Oh well...there are worse things I suppose. (see all my previous paperweight posts!!!!)

Well...as some of you know...I no longer hold the title of Admin. However, I would argue my years of experience qualifies me for lifetime membership into the Admin Club...therefore, I will continue to post here.
Add to that the fact that though I'm newly minted into my new role, I still get the admin questions from the rest of the department -- always prefaced with an apology: "I'm sorry to bother you I know you're in your new role but....do we have any double sided tape?". 

Then there's the temp in my admin role, also known as, Paperweight 2.0.  Yes that's right people.  At Day 3 of training when she interrupted me to go off on some tangent about her son it finally hit me.  She is a duplicate of the Paperweight. 

• She launches into an account of her whole family (immediate and extended) at the drop of a hat.  
• She's neck deep into "the change".  
• She's got the A/C on and the window open in single digit weather!  

 The packaging may be different but the personality is the same.  I thought the world would end when they finally ended up in the office together.  It's simple Physics people! 
You know...the Pauli exclusion principle:

I have been avoiding my old office like the plague -- but the few moments I do go in there its quiet and seems...tense. Weird.  Could they be repelling each other?

Apparently my new role has been defined (finally) as a focus on education and...yup you guessed...administration.  Is there no escape??!!  I'm employed and i'm getting paid more.  I should just shut my pie hole and stop complaining right?  Not bloody likely!

Kind of how I feel today.  I have been told I will be moving to a new shared space.  Had a great, open conversation with my new potential roommate -- however, I still have issues with sharing a space at all.  But...the paperweight has the A/C.  Essentially cooling the office to a temperature that is warmer than it actually is outside and there is a breeze coming in to the office so I have no idea what her reasoning is.
I think I'm going to hide the remote control tonight.

SG: Remember those files that were returned. Do you have any of them? Are you sure you returned them?
Me: Yes
SG: Just to let you know off the record i got an email stating they can't be found
Me: I didn't keep them.  Perhaps they got mixed up with the other bundle. Why don't you reply to her and suggest she looks there.
SG: No I'm not going to do that...that's their problem. Let them figure it out.
Me (frustrated voice):  Ultimately, this could be the difference between resolution and a few million dollars cost to the organization.  You need to say something. Or tell her to contact me and give me a status update and I'll make the suggestion to her.  This has to be done!!
SG: Yeah I know...chuckle...I know...okay.  Okay I'll email her.

WTF??!!!   You're a supervisor you twit!!! This is your fault and your responsibility. It's been a non-stop shit storm since you decided you didn't want to do any work and pawned it all off on someone else!  Your lack of professionalism is going to tank this whole file!!!  What a clusterfu**!!!  I can't believe I need to deal with this nincompoop!

 Ah Buffy…just a few more hours.  Since I’ve been floating since Monday’s news :) I’ve been a bit lax in my administration.  Fully intend to crank it out today!  Of course since Monday’s announcement the paperweight has been chattier.  And my ebullience (Google it people!) has made me chattier. So after wasting almost an hour talking with her on Wednesday -- she won't stop!  Shot myself in the foot I guess. 

Though really nothing can get me too down anymore this week!  Next week is a different story.

On another note...

I've noticed we have some viewers on our stats. Maybe not followers yet...but viewers.  So...if you're out there and you're reading I thought I'd ask a general question to all two of you.

As any good admin, you usually surround your desk with personal items.  Pictures of the kids, messages on sticky notes, perhaps a wall paper of your favourite star/starlet ... some thing or things that make you smile and keeps you going.  For me it's usually anything to do with Grumpy Cat (love that cat!)
