I can't put into words how helpful it is to get obvious suggestions from someone who is NOT an admin assistant. (Please liberally cover that statement in sarcasm with a twist of derision)
The holidays are fast approaching and I've been asked to do a slew of meetings for someone who has all of 2 weeks availability in the entire month of December. Further, I'm trying to keep his Monday's and Friday's free as he'll be just returning/just leaving for time off and I'd like him to have some buffers.
Enter the players:
Ms. Would You Mind Terribly -- who specifically asked I change the meeting date and time two weeks in a row
Mr. and Mrs. Never Reply -- thanks for the feedback!!!
Madam Minimal -- only has three days a week for meetings...oh and by the way she has decided to schedule a week off without giving any heads up. This is the third meeting request!!! You couldn't see I was approaching mid-December for a date and think to give me a heads up before I sent it out??
And my personal favourite...the reason for this post...The Know - It- All:
Them: "Uh...which date is it now. All the emails are confusing."
Me -- first of all there were three, they are different, they each have explanations, and will NOT allow you to accept them if they're out of date. Should I use smaller words so you can keep up??
Them -- "Why don't you send an email with some availability and let people reply with what works for them?"
Me -- WTF do you think I've been doing? If you can make it you accept. If you can't you decline. It's dirt easy. How about you use the constraints I have and try and find a date before January 23rd for a 2 hour meeting!?
Perhaps if you replied to the first email we wouldn't be here. Like I'm really going to trust this group of characters to respond to an email with at least 6 different options in a timely matter when they can't even click a yes or no button!!!!
How about when I need help in your field of expertise I'll ask you and you stop trying to suggest things in mine!
Now that this rant is out of my system...off to create an email poll for availability...
