"Can you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?!!!"

~~ Chris Tucker to Jackie Chan in Rush Hour

GAH!!!!! #$%#%$#  It's been 4 years since I've been stalked by the same job agency calling me to arrange placements for their people!!  And for those 4 years I've told the same woman I am an administrative assistant I have nothing to do with hiring and they need to call HR or better yet...get lost!  We already have an agency lined up.
Well some peppy dude calls, talking a mile a minute today about the same thing!  The woman who's been stalking me finally left the company...and has put this guy on my case!!!!
That was the last straw!  After a rather audible sigh of exasperation and a brief pause for effect...I re-iterated that as an administrative assistant I have no authority to make arrangements with agencies I told his colleague that each time she called over the last 4 years and that now I'm telling him ...please stop calling me and call HR!"

Him: "Oh...well...uh...there's no note here (yeah right...blame the person who's no longer there)...well there's a big bold note on your file right now."

Me: "Uh huh"

Him: "Do you know who exactly in HR to call"

Me: "No"

Him: "Uh...okay...well thanks for your time."

Like starving dogs on a bone this agency!!!!!  I expect another call in 8 months! >:(

"Send in...the clowns, those daffy, laffy clowns..."

~~ Krusty the Clown, Krusty's Komeback Special
Okay...this is the best I could do for the clip but you get the idea.
What a depressing day!  New construction on my route into work which had me parked for an hour!!! Granted I did catch up on some much needed sleep, but I also ended up an hour late for work.  Then I had to take my car back in for the leak they supposedly fixed. Only to find out that they'll have to look again cuz the leak could be coming from anywhere. So why did you do the repair in the first place without being sure. Not that hard to see stuff dripping from under a car and following it back to the source.  It can only be one of a few things!! >:(

No officemate so I thought I'd have some freedom. Nope. Phone has not stopped ringing all day and it's been nothing but work. So I've been exceptionally productive. To the point that I didn't eat lunch until 2pm and found out that they close certain food stations at that time so I didn't get what I wanted. Then I ended up dripping sauce all over my shirt!  I'm a mess!  I can't keep it together!  I didn't even get a pastry this morning. The colossal line up thwarted my attempt and I didn't have a chance to go back!

And now I fear I'm going to be on my own again tomorrow -- you know the day all admins are supposed to run around delivering packages to people. Yeah -- the day co-worker usually takes a powder and bails.  It's no wonder she's the first to volunteer -- she knows in advance she's not going to be around! >:(

So now I'm  warm, dirty, cranky, sticky and have to stay late. Not good. I need some cheering up. Maybe I'll just stare out the window for the next hour and see if anyone falls...or farts...or falls while farting! Base humor always cheers me up.

"Give a little bit of yourself to me"

~~ song: Give a Little Bit by Supertramp

Faithful reader I recall finding my old report card from JK that basically said I was bossy and not good at sharing.  I vividly remember the incident that might have directly contributed to this remark.  Luciano wanted the little plastic kettle I was using to make pretend tea in our block house -- and I wasn't done.  He was going to have to pry that thing from my cold, dead hands cuz I was not about to surrender it.  And I let him no that too.  Naturally at age 4 I was not so eloquent, but I imagine I said "NO!" (probably a few times)

Which brings me to today's topic...sharing. Perhaps, I'm over compensating these days because I have a difficult time saying "no" nowadays.
Case in point: Co-worker blows in, inappropriately dressed for the weather and needs to hike across campus to a meeting and wants a longer coat.  It was April -- yes I was still wearing my winter coat. It wasn't that much longer, but enough to cover the skirt she was wearing and she asked to borrow my coat.
My first thought was of the potential smell as the furry hood liner was wet from rain and I was especially concerned about the foundation caked onto the collar!
But she was strictly concerned about warmth.  I was in a quandary!  There didn't seem to be any wiggle room to allow a no answer in her question -- she was determined not to wear her jacket and had already sized up my coat and had it in her hands.  So...I said yes.

Done is done -- I got my coat back promptly after her meeting no worse for wear and she thanked me profusely.  Would I have done the same had our situations been reversed?  First of all, we would have had to be in a parallel universe for the situations to be reversed.  I'm always overdressed for the weather!  I don't surrender my scarf until mid-May and given the recent weather patterns, I'm probably going to be wearing something around my neck until early June!!!!  But let's say I was unprepared -- I'd probably suffer in silence and berate myself for not being better prepared.  I wouldn't dream of asking to borrow someone's coat!

Is it just me?  I had a manager ask to borrow foundation one day.  Props to her for being colorblind -- restoring my faith in inter race relations -- but she's white, I'm not, it was awkward!  Then there's office mate who's gone so far as to ask to borrow -- gah!-- deodorant!  Yes I have some in my desk...FOR MY OWN PERSONAL USE!!!!  And I had to shell out $3 for the travel sized stick. I'm not letting another person drag that under their armpits all over their odoriferous sweat glands!  Naturally paranoia kicked in -- I don't often lock my desk and she knows I have toiletries in it.  Did she already use it and now she's just being formal and asking?  As soon as she left the office I took a paperclip to the stick and carefully shaved off the top layer. Hey you never know!

Sharing is good. Sharing good experiences, sharing information, sharing deals...
Sharing clothing or deodorant with personal boundary-less co-workers -- Bad!

"AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!"

Yes faithful readers!  Revenge of the 5th was made even more magical by my trip to the theatre to see the Avengers on the big screen.
My review:
Definitely worth the 1.5 hour wait in line to get into the theatre.  I took in the regular viewing -- I hate the 3D glasses and I was not disappointed.
For me, comic junkie that I am, it started a bit slow.  But in hindsight it made sense -- these are previously seen individual characters -- some assembly is required.  So Joss Whedon took us through that (not so smooth process).
I was never a fan of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and given the two previous incarnations of the Hulk movies I didn't expect much of this character.  For the part -- he was what he needed to be in this movie and a little bit more as I was pleasantly surprised.
Scarlett Johanssen as the Black Widow did what she needed to do -- which was be eye candy for the raging hormonal teenagers sitting beside me.
I was pleasantly surprised with Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.  In the Thor movie he got about 2 lines and 5 minutes.  He was more prominent in this movie and really was able to bring the character to life.
Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill -- this was a really pointless character.  Perhaps in the next movies we'll understand why she was introduced at all.  She didn't add anything to the movie, but didn't detract either.
Clark Gregg was back as Agent Coulson and did not disappoint.
Tom Hiddleston as Loki -- was on point.  And actually there is a key scene that kind of sums up his characters involvement which I now understand and can elaborate on after a certain person (Buffy) gets to see the movie.
RDJ -- what can I say -- stole the show!!!  They could have called it Iron Man and Friends!  It's not just the writing but its what he does with the character.  There's got to be a lot of Tony Stark in RDJ because he plays this guy like a second skin.  Serious when he needs to be and flippant all the time! :)
Chris Evans took a bit of a back seat in this movie -- good thing he had his own.  I suppose in an ensemble movie you aren't really supposed to have an individual focus and this movie did a good job of spreading the love around to all the characters.  He didn't detract from the movie, and added what Captain America needed to add.  But I wasn't a fan of what they did with his costume.
And finally, to my husband, Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Shame on you for leaving your shirt on.  And bravo for weilding that hammer like none could.  Thor really got to let loose in this movie and I LOVED IT.
Samuel L. Jackson had some liners -- but I wish they had given him more to do.  But then...he's not an Avenger so he really did need to take a backseat.

Over all: Do you need to be a fan boy/girl to see this movie? No...but it helps!
Did you need to see the other movies? No...but it helps, cuz it picks up right where Captain America left off without missing a beat.
Will you love this movie?  If you're a human being -- YES!
Plus definitely stay to the absolute end of the credits when the lights come on.  You won't be disappointed.
When I walked out of Captain America and stayed for the Avengers trailer at the very end I said that was the greatest extra I'd ever seen in a Marvel movie.  Faithful reader...I was wrong.  The Avengers extra is the greatest extra I've EVER seen in a Marvel movie.  If you're a fanboy you'll know why -- and if you're not...I'll be thrilled to explain it to you!!!
